HB 1938  RELATING TO REVISED UNIFORM COMMERCIAL CODE              CPN
        ARTICLE 9 -- SECURED TRANSACTIONS.
        Adopts new UCC article 9, secured transactions.  Repeals old
        article 9.

HB 2480  RELATING TO LIMITED LIABILITY PARTNERSHIPS.              CPN
        Revises provisions of the Uniform Partnership Act to make the
        formation of limited liability partnerships more attractive.

HB 2483  RELATING TO BUSINESS REGISTRATION.                       CPN
        Provides a one-step amendment of articles of organization for
        limited liability companies and makes housekeeping
        clarifications. (HB2483 HD1) (SAY (BR)) 

HB 2482  RELATING TO CONTROL SHARE ACQUISITIONS.                  CPN
        Proposes amendments to the Hawaii Business Corporation Act to
        make business acquisitions easier in situations where the
        acquisition conforms with state merger laws or is approved by a
        board of directors.  (HB2482 HD1) (SAY (BR))

HB 2484  RELATING TO THE CORPORATIONS.                            CPN
        Updates Chapter 415, to make it more desirable for existing
        Hawaii corporations to remain in the State and for new
        businesses to incorporate in the State.  (SAY (BR))

HB 2481  RELATING TO THE UNIFORM SECURITIES ACT.                  CPN
        Amends chapter 485 to clarify and expand powers of the
        Commissioner and allowing better and more flexible enforcement
        of the securities law, minimize interruptions in business by
        authorizing registered brokers or investment advisers to file
        applications for registration on behalf of successor entities,
        and provide a reciprocal exemption for Canadian securities

 
        dealers servicing Canadian tourists temporarily on vacation in

HB 2585  RELATING TO THE UNIFORM ELECTRONIC TRANSACTION ACT.      CPN
        Gives electronic records and signatures the same legal status

SR 37      CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO ADOPT RULES TO REQUIRE

              DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW, IF TIME PERMITS.


Persons wishing to testify should submit 25 copies, 3-hole punched, of their
testimony to the committee clerk, Room 202, State Capitol, 24 hours prior to
the hearing. Testimony may also be faxed if less than 5 pages in length, to
the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms Office at 586-6659 or 1-800-586-6659 (toll free
for neighbor islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing,
please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the date and time
of the hearing, and the required number of copies needed for submittal.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids or services to
participate in the public hearing process (i.e., sign language interpreter,
wheelchair accessibility, or parking designated for the disabled), please
contact the committee clerk 24 hours prior to the hearing so arrangements can
be made.

Public Folder.  A folder labeled "Public Folder" containing the measures and
